Tomato purée soup 30 g — an instant single-serving meal

Tomato purée soup 30 g from Kompas Zdorovja is an instant single-serving soup based on ripe tomatoes. It is designed for people who want a warm, light meal in a few minutes — at the office, while travelling, at the gym or simply when there is no time to cook from scratch. One sachet makes a full bowl: just add hot water, stir and wait a couple of minutes.

What it is made of

The base of the recipe is tomato powder, which keeps the characteristic sweet-tangy flavour and the natural red colour of fresh tomatoes. Tomatoes are a known source of lycopene — a plant pigment from the carotenoid family that gives the fruit its colour and acts as an antioxidant, meaning it helps neutralise free radicals formed in the body during normal metabolism. Lycopene is fat-soluble and is absorbed better from processed tomatoes than from raw ones, so a hot purée soup is a pleasant way to include it in the menu.

How the format works

The ingredients are dried and finely ground, then mixed in balanced proportions. Hot water rehydrates the powder, the starches swell and the mixture turns into a smooth, velvety purée with a thickness close to a classic restaurant-style tomato bisque. Because the soup is not fried or boiled for long, the aroma of tomato and herbs stays bright.

When it fits well

• a quick lunch at work or on a trip when only a kettle is available;
• a light evening meal when a full dinner feels too heavy;
• a warm starter before the main course;
• a calorie-conscious menu, since a portion is small but filling thanks to the liquid volume.

The soup pairs nicely with wholegrain bread, crackers, a handful of seeds or a spoon of natural yoghurt or cream stirred in at the end for a milder taste. A pinch of black pepper, fresh basil or a few drops of olive oil turn the instant sachet into a more interesting dish.

Good to know

Instant soups are a convenience food, not a replacement for varied home cooking. Check the label for salt content and the full ingredient list if you follow a low-sodium diet, are pregnant, or have allergies to any components. For children and people with chronic conditions it is worth consulting a doctor or nutritionist before making such products a regular part of the menu.
