Marsh Cinquefoil Herb 50 g – Horst-X (Sabelnik)

What the product is

Soopihla urt (Horst) is a dried herb of the marsh cinquefoil — Comarum palustre, in Russian known as sabelnik and in Estonian as soopihla urt. This wetland plant has been used in Northern and Eastern European folk tradition for centuries, mostly in herbal teas and infusions intended for people who feel stiffness in their joints, lower back or muscles after physical effort or as the years go by.

Key components

The marsh cinquefoil herb contains a natural mix of:

• Tannins — give the plant its characteristic astringent character
• Flavonoids — studied for antioxidant behaviour
• Phenolic acids — studied for antioxidant behaviour
• Saponins
• Essential oil
• Traces of carotenoids

Flavonoids and phenolic compounds are studied for their antioxidant behaviour — meaning they help neutralise free radicals that the body produces during inflammation and physical stress. This combination is the reason sabelnik is traditionally chosen by people who want a herbal companion for an active lifestyle, long walks, sauna sessions or seasonal warming-up rituals.

When people choose it

Soopihla urt suits adults who prefer simple, single-herb preparations over complex capsules and who like to keep a small selection of traditional Estonian herbs in the kitchen. It fits naturally into a phytotherapy collection alongside:

• Meadowsweet
• Willow bark
• Nettle

How to use it

The Horst packaging contains 50 g of finely cut aerial parts of the plant, ready to be brewed as a tea or used to prepare a longer infusion. Common ways to enjoy it:

• A warm cup in the evening as a tea
• A stronger decoction used externally as a compress on tired knees, shoulders or the lumbar area

The taste is earthy and slightly bitter — typical of forest and marsh herbs — and pairs well with a small spoon of honey or a slice of lemon.

Important notes

Marsh cinquefoil is a potent herb, so moderation matters:

• Follow the brewing instructions on the pack
• Avoid prolonged uninterrupted use
• Not recommended during pregnancy, while breastfeeding or for children
• If you take prescription medication, have a chronic condition or are scheduled for surgery, consult your doctor or pharmacist before adding this herbal tea to your regimen

A food supplement does not replace a varied diet and a healthy way of life.
