Qarshi Johar Joshanda is a traditional Pakistani herbal drink in convenient single-dose sachets. It belongs to the same family of warming herbal infusions as the well-known Ceylon Samahan, and it is often chosen during cold and damp seasons when you simply want a hot, aromatic cup of something more interesting than ordinary tea.
The blend is built around a combination of plants long used in South Asian and Unani herbal tradition. Typically it includes extracts such as adhatoda (Malabar nut), liquorice root, hyssop, cordia, violet, fennel and other warming herbs. Together they give the drink its characteristic dark colour, slightly bitter-sweet taste and gentle warming sensation in the throat and chest. Liquorice and fennel add a soft sweetness, while adhatoda and hyssop are the herbs traditionally associated with a clear, free-breathing feeling.
The format is practical: each sachet contains a measured portion of dry herbal granules that dissolve in hot water in seconds. No brewing, no straining, no measuring spoons — you tear open the sachet, pour it into a cup, add boiling water and, if you like, a little honey or lemon. One pack contains six sachets, which is enough to try the drink or to keep a small reserve at home or at the office for chilly evenings.
When people usually reach for it:
Joshandа has an intense herbal character, so the first cup is often a small discovery — many people add honey, ginger or a slice of lemon to round off the taste. It is a food product, not a medicine, and it is not intended to treat or prevent any condition. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescription medication or have a known sensitivity to liquorice or other herbs in the blend, it is wise to check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding it to your menu.
