Fir needles (Abies spp.) are the dried leaf material of silver fir — a tall coniferous tree native to the mountain forests of Central and Eastern Europe and Siberia. Fir needles are rich in natural ascorbic acid (vitamin C), beta-carotene, essential oils (predominantly alpha-pinene, limonene and bornyl acetate), phytoncides — natural volatile organic compounds with distinctive fresh-forest aroma — and various trace minerals. They have a long history of use in Russian and Siberian folk herbalism, both as a warming herbal infusion and as an aromatic bath additive.
This product by Horst is 100% dried fir needles from Siberian fir, packaged in a 50 g format. The needles can be prepared as a herbal tea, used to make a relaxing aromatic bath, or prepared as a compress solution.

What it is
Horst Nuluokkad 50 g is a dried herbal product made from Siberian fir needles. People usually choose fir needles when they want a warming forest-herb infusion or an aromatic plant bath with a fresh conifer scent. In folk herbal practice across Siberia and Eastern Europe, fir has long been valued for its resinous aroma and for the naturally occurring plant compounds found in the needles.
Key components
Fir needles contain a range of naturally occurring plant substances:
- Natural vitamin C
- Beta-carotene — a plant pigment known as a precursor of vitamin A
- Essential oils such as alpha-pinene, limonene and bornyl acetate — the fragrant volatile substances that give fir its characteristic “forest” smell
- Phytoncides — aromatic protective substances produced by plants themselves
- Trace minerals
When used as an infusion or bath additive, these compounds create a refreshing, warming sensory effect. Together, these components make dried fir needles interesting not just as a herbal tea, but also as a traditional botanical ingredient for seasonal use.
When people choose it
What makes this product appealing is its simplicity: one single botanical ingredient, with no blends and no added flavours. That can suit people who prefer classic herbs in a loose form and want flexibility in how they use them.
- A fir needle infusion may fit colder months
- A bath prepared from the needles can be a pleasant option after long outdoor walks, physically active days, or whenever you want a more grounding herbal ritual at home
Important notes
Because this is a concentrated aromatic herb, it is worth using thoughtfully.
- If you are sensitive to conifer resins or essential oils, start cautiously or avoid use.
- Fir needle products are also not recommended during pregnancy.
- As with other herbal food supplements, it is best to choose them as part of a varied diet and sensible lifestyle rather than as a replacement for either.
