Sodium bicarbonate is commonly dissolved in warm water for internal use as a dietary supplement; it can also be used for mouth rinsing and gargling as a cosmetic oral hygiene preparation.
The nutritional value is zero calories per serving (energy: 0 kJ / 0 kcal per 100 g). The only significant nutritional component is sodium (as bicarbonate), accounting for 27.3 g of salt per 100 g. USAGE: For oral consumption: heat water to 90–95 °C. Add 1 teaspoon (4 g) of baking soda to a glass, then pour 130 ml of hot water over it. Stir vigorously for 1 minute. Add cold water to the rim of the glass, continuing to stir. Leave to stand 2–3 minutes. When sufficiently cooled, drink the full solution in a few sips, on an empty stomach — preferably in the morning. For mouth rinsing and gargling: dissolve in warm water and use as needed.
