FOREST BALSAM mouthwash with cedar nut oil and sage by Kosmolats
FOREST BALSAM mouthwash with cedar nut oil and sage by Kosmolats is an oral hygiene rinse for people who want something more than a quick minty finish after brushing. This type of mouthwash is usually chosen to freshen breath, reach areas a toothbrush may miss, and help keep the mouth feeling clean after meals.
Key components
The formula combines several ingredients with different roles:
- Cetylpyridinium chloride is a common antiseptic component in mouth rinses: it helps reduce the build-up of unwanted bacteria on the surfaces of the mouth, which can contribute to stale breath and plaque formation.
- Sodium fluoride is added for enamel maintenance, making this Kosmolats mouthwash a practical option alongside brushing with fluoride toothpaste.
- Glycerin and film-forming agents slightly condition the texture, so the rinse does not feel like plain water.
The plant-based blend
What makes this FOREST BALSAM mouthwash more distinctive is its botanical composition:
- Siberian pine seed oil, often referred to as cedar nut oil, is valued in cosmetic and hygiene products for its softening effect.
- Sage extract has a long history of use in oral products because it gives a fresh herbal note and is traditionally associated with a cleaner, more balanced feeling in the mouth.
- Aloe, chamomile, yarrow, juniper and other botanical extracts add a gentler, soothing side to the composition.
- Fir oil contributes to the characteristic forest-like aroma.
When people choose it
This oral rinse can fit well into a regimen for people who:
- drink coffee or enjoy strongly flavoured food;
- wear orthodontic appliances;
- simply like an extra cleansing step after eating.
It is not a replacement for brushing and flossing, but an added measure that helps extend freshness between those steps.
Important notes
If your mouth is very sensitive, or if you react easily to essential oils, herbal extracts or antiseptic rinses, start cautiously. Mouthwash should not be swallowed, and it is wise to ask a dentist or pharmacist before regular use if you have ongoing irritation, recent dental procedures, or are choosing a product for a teenager.

Customer Questions
The name reflects the blend of botanical extracts and oils included for their sensory and conditioning qualities. Unlike many mouthwashes that rely primarily on strong mint or alcohol for a sharp finish, this formula uses Siberian pine seed oil (cedar nut oil) and sage extract. Sage provides a characteristic herbal-fresh note, while the pine seed oil contributes a softening effect. Combined with extracts of aloe, chamomile, and yarrow, and the aroma of fir oil, the overall experience is intended to be gentler and more forest-like than purely minty. The texture is conditioned with glycerin and film-forming agents, so it won't feel as thin as water. It's designed for those who prefer a less intense, more herbal freshness after use.
If your mouth or gums are easily irritated, a cautious approach is recommended. The formula contains cetylpyridinium chloride, an antiseptic common in mouth rinses, and a blend of botanical extracts and essential oils like sage, fir, and juniper. While these ingredients are included for their freshening and conditioning roles, some individuals may react to them. It's wise to try a small amount first to see how your mouth tolerates it. More importantly, you should consult a dentist or pharmacist before making it part of your regular routine if you have ongoing irritation, recent dental procedures (like extractions or implants), or are considering it for a teenager. The product is not a treatment for underlying sensitivity or gum conditions and should not be used if it causes discomfort.
This mouthwash is designed as an added step, not a substitute for brushing with fluoride toothpaste and flossing. Its primary roles are to help freshen breath, reach areas a toothbrush may miss, and extend the feeling of cleanliness. The sodium fluoride content provides additional enamel maintenance alongside your toothpaste. A practical way to use it is after meals, especially if you've consumed coffee or strongly flavoured food, to help manage lingering tastes. It can also be a useful supplementary cleanse for those wearing orthodontic appliances like braces, where food particles can be harder to dislodge. Remember, it's a rinse: use it for 30-60 seconds as directed, then spit it out—do not swallow.
