The golden glow is created by cosmetic shimmer pigments, not by a dye or self-tanner. These pigments stay on the surface of the skin after the scrub has been rinsed off, which is why the effect is immediate. It is also temporary: the glow will gradually fade with contact, sweat, and washing, and it can be removed completely with the next shower or bath.
Because the pigments are not fixed to the skin, they can transfer to clothing or bedding, especially in the first minutes after use. To keep transfer to a minimum, rinse the skin well so that no excess product remains, and let the skin dry completely before getting dressed. If you apply a body lotion afterwards, wait until the lotion has absorbed into the skin before putting on light-colored clothes, since a fresh lotion layer can pick up residual shimmer.
How much glow remains on your skin depends on how much product you apply and how thoroughly you rinse it off. Rinsing more thoroughly leaves a softer effect. The product is a body scrub and is not meant to be worn as a leave-on cosmetic.
Use the scrub on the body and keep it away from the eyes and the delicate facial skin. If you want a lasting, uniform tan, you still need a separate self-tanner; this scrub only prepares the skin and adds a short-lived golden finish.
