Can I use almond oil on hair ends and cuticles?

Almond oil is often used on cuticles, nails, eyebrows and the lengths of the hair, where it helps soften and adds a smoother appearance. Because it is absorbed quite well when used sparingly, it does not leave an overly heavy oil film.

For hair, the usual method is to warm 1–2 drops between your palms and smooth them over the ends and the length of damp or dry hair. Avoid the roots if your scalp tends to get greasy. If your hair is very dry, you can increase the amount slightly, but in general a thin coating is enough. Applying it before washing can also help protect the strands during shampooing: massage a few drops into the ends and leave for 10–15 minutes, then wash as usual.

For nails and cuticles, massage a drop into each nail bed and cuticle, ideally at night after hand cream. This helps soften dry cuticles and can make nails look less ragged. You can also brush a little oil onto eyebrows to smooth them, although a dedicated brow gel is a different product.

Almond oil spreads easily and is a common base in massage blends, so you can mix it with other cosmetic oils or creams. As always, patch-test first if you have sensitive skin or a known nut allergy, and avoid contact with eyes.
