Inhalation Mixture is an aromatic liquid preparation for use in steam inhalations, formulated from a combination of racemic menthol, eucalyptus tincture, and ethyl alcohol as its three active aromatic components. The 40 ml flask format is designed for home use with a standard steam inhalator or by adding a small quantity to a bowl of hot water for open-steam inhalation. When added to warm steam, the preparation releases a powerful, intensely fresh, camphoraceous-menthol and eucalyptus aromatic cloud that delivers the characteristic cooling, fresh, strongly aromatic sensation of menthol and eucalyptus to the nasal and oral passages during inhalation.
Racemic menthol (a mixture of L- and D-menthol isomers) provides a strong cooling and refreshing aromatic note with the familiar characteristic minty-cool sensation. Eucalyptus tincture contributes the sharp, penetrating, woody-green aromatic character of Eucalyptus globulus essential oil components (1,8-cineole/eucalyptol being the dominant volatile compound). Ethyl alcohol serves as the solvent and carrier for the aromatic components, ensuring even distribution when added to steam. The preparation is intended for aromatic steam inhalation use only and is not for oral consumption.
