Kissel (also spelled kisel) is a traditional hot starch-based fruit drink popular throughout Estonia, Latvia, Russia and other Northern and Eastern European countries — traditionally a sweet, thickened fruit drink made from berries, fruits or juice with potato starch, served hot. Hutorok's instant kissel powder dissolves quickly in boiling water to make a homemade kissel drink within minutes. The formula contains sugars, potato starch, citric acid (E330) as an acidity regulator, forest berry flavouring, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and carmine (E120) as a natural red colourant. Nutritional values per 100 g: Vitamin C 100 mg; Carbohydrates 92 g; Energy 368 kcal / 1564 kJ. Single-serve 30 g sachet. Note: the amount of water used determines the thickness of the drink.

The potato starch activates instantly, thickening the liquid into a smooth, slightly viscous kissel. For a richer, almost pudding-like consistency that you can eat with a spoon, use closer to 150 ml water. For a lighter, sip-friendly drink, increase to 200–250 ml. Stir until no dry powder remains; the starch will continue to swell for the first minute. If it becomes too thick as it cools, simply stir in a splash of hot water. Do not use cold or lukewarm water — the starch will not hydrate properly and the drink will stay watery with lumps.
The base is potato starch, which gives kissel its characteristic body. Sweetness comes from added sugar, so this product is not suitable for low-sugar or ketogenic diets. Citric acid provides the tart berry note, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is included as a nutrient. The red-pink color comes from carmine (E120), a colorant derived from cochineal insects; people who avoid animal-derived additives or have rare carmine sensitivity should note this.
