Bom-Benge Ointment 25g from Samaramedprom (Russia) is a topical ointment for external use on the skin, formulated with two active ingredients: levomenthol (3.9 g per 100 g) — the laevorotatory isomer of menthol, providing a pronounced, rapidly perceptible cooling and refreshing sensation on the skin surface — and methyl salicylate (20.2 g per 100 g), a naturally occurring aromatic ester also found in wintergreen oil, which provides a characteristic warming sensation and mild counter-irritant effect at the skin surface. The ointment is prepared on a soft petrolatum (vaseline) base (68.9 g/100 g) with paraffin wax (P-1 grade, 7.0 g/100 g) to provide a consistent, smooth, adhesive texture that remains on the skin surface after application. The combined cooling-warming sensory contrast is the characteristic hallmark of Bom-Benge formulations. Applied externally to the skin of the back, shoulders, neck and legs. 25 g.
⚠ External use only. Contains methyl salicylate — do not use on large areas of skin. Avoid in children under 6.
25 g. Topical ointment for external use. Active: Levomenthol 3.9% + Methyl salicylate 20.2%. Vaseline base.

What This Ointment Is
Bom-Benge Topical Ointment 25 g is an external-use skin ointment chosen when people want a pronounced cooling-then-warming sensation on areas such as the neck, shoulders, back or legs after physical strain, long sitting, travel or exposure to cold. It is not a cosmetic cream for hydration: this is a classic topical formula designed mainly for its sensory effect on the skin surface and for massage into tense-feeling areas.
Key Active Components
The action of this ointment comes from two well-known actives working in sequence:
- Levomenthol — creates a fast, fresh cooling effect by stimulating cold-sensitive receptors in the skin, so the area feels pleasantly chilled soon after application.
- Methyl salicylate — an aromatic compound also associated with wintergreen, brings a gradually developing warming sensation and acts as a counter-irritant, giving the skin a second, warmer signal that can shift attention away from local stiffness and heaviness.
This sequence is why many people recognize Bom-Benge ointment by its clear temperature contrast. The petrolatum and paraffin ointment base spreads slowly, stays where it is applied and forms a persistent layer on the skin — making it practical for targeted rubbing and massage, especially on small areas that benefit from a longer-lasting surface effect.
When People Choose It
Bom-Benge ointment may suit adults who prefer a classic topical rub over tablets, patches or strongly perfumed sports gels. Typical situations include:
- Evening massage for the shoulder area after desk work
- Rubbing into the lower legs after a long walk
- Applying to the neck and upper back when the body feels overstrained
Because the sensations can be quite noticeable, it is usually better for small, localized areas rather than broad application.
Important Cautions
Use this product thoughtfully — it is for external skin application only, and the warming effect can feel strong on sensitive skin. Avoid:
- Eyes and mucous membranes
- Damaged or irritated skin
- Large body areas
Extra caution is important for children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and for anyone sensitive to salicylates or menthol.

Customer Questions
The sensation comes from two actives that trigger different nerve receptors in sequence. Levomenthol activates cold-sensitive TRPM8 receptors almost immediately after application, so the skin feels distinctly cool within the first minute or two. Methyl salicylate works more slowly; it acts as a counter-irritant that gradually stimulates warmth-sensitive pathways, producing a building heat that typically peaks after the initial coolness fades. This contrast is intentional — the shift from cold to warm can redirect attention away from a feeling of local stiffness or heaviness. The petrolatum and paraffin base slows the release of both actives, so the transition feels gradual rather than abrupt, and the layer stays in place long enough for a thorough massage. You will not get the same effect from a water-based gel that evaporates quickly; the ointment base is a functional part of how the sequence unfolds.
Because the warming phase can become intense, this ointment is designed for targeted use on limited zones — think a palm-sized patch on the upper trapezius after desk work, the lumbar area after prolonged sitting, or the calf muscles after a long walk. Squeeze a pea-to-hazelnut amount onto fingertips, spread it thinly, and rub with firm, slow strokes until the ointment stops feeling tacky; the petrolatum base means it will not vanish instantly, giving you time to work the tissue. Do not cover the area with occlusive bandages or apply external heat (heating pads, hot water bottles) afterward, as that can amplify the warming effect beyond comfort. Wash hands thoroughly after each use so you do not accidentally transfer menthol or salicylate to the eyes, lips, or other mucous membranes. If the sensation becomes painful rather than pleasantly warm, wipe off the excess with a paper towel and rinse with cool water — do not scrub, which can drive the actives deeper.
Methyl salicylate is chemically related to aspirin; individuals who react to salicylates (for example, with asthma exacerbation, urticaria, or gastrointestinal irritation after oral NSAIDs) can experience systemic absorption through the skin, especially if large areas are treated or the skin barrier is compromised. Levomenthol can trigger contact dermatitis or a strong burning sensation on very sensitive or atopic skin. The manufacturer explicitly advises against use on damaged, inflamed, or broken skin and on mucous membranes. For children under 12, during pregnancy, or while breastfeeding, there is insufficient safety data for topical salicylate/menthol combinations at this concentration, so a pharmacist or physician should assess the risk-benefit balance. If you take anticoagulants, have a bleeding disorder, or are scheduled for surgery, mention the product to your clinician because salicylates can theoretically affect platelet function even with dermal exposure. Store the tube below 25 °C, cap tightly after each use, and discard 12 months after first opening — the base can oxidize and the actives degrade, altering both efficacy and irritation potential.
