What are ICONFIT Purustatud kakaooad?
ICONFIT Purustatud kakaooad 300 g are crushed raw cocoa beans, often called cocoa nibs. People usually choose this kind of healthy food when they want a real cocoa taste without added sugar and with more texture than cocoa powder. The flavour is naturally intense and slightly bitter on its own, but in porridge, smoothies, yogurt, homemade granola or baking it adds a rich chocolate note and a pleasant crunch.
Key components and benefits
What makes cocoa nibs interesting is that they are simply broken pieces of the bean, so you get the original character of cocoa in a minimally processed form. Raw cocoa is valued for its naturally occurring polyphenols — plant compounds with antioxidant activity. In plain language, these compounds help protect cells from oxidative stress caused by normal metabolic processes and environmental factors. Cocoa also contains fibre, which helps make meals more filling and fits well into a balanced diet.

They work well as a less sweet chocolate ingredient for breakfast bowls, protein shakes, energy bites, cookies or muffins. Because the pieces stay slightly firm, they give more bite than melted chocolate or powder, making them a good option for those who like layered texture and a deeper, more authentic cocoa profile in recipes.
Important notes and cautions
If you are new to raw cocoa nibs, start with a small amount, as the taste is stronger and more bitter than regular chocolate. Also keep in mind that cocoa naturally contains stimulating compounds, so sensitive individuals may prefer not to use large portions later in the day.

Customer Questions
ICONFIT Purustatud kakaooad are crushed raw cocoa beans, commonly known as cocoa nibs. They are not sweetened; instead, they provide a naturally intense, slightly bitter chocolate flavor. This makes them distinct from cocoa powder, which is typically finer and often processed with alkali or added sugars. Nibs retain the original character of the bean in a minimally processed form, offering a pleasant crunch and layered texture that powder cannot replicate.
The flavor of raw cocoa nibs is strong and naturally bitter, which can be an adjustment if you are new to them. It is recommended to start with a small amount to gauge your preference. Once integrated, they add a rich chocolate note and a pleasant crunch to a variety of foods. They work well as a less sweet chocolate ingredient in breakfast bowls, protein shakes, energy bites, cookies, or muffins.
