Dentral Tra-la-la is designed for children aged 3–10, so it is appropriate for a 3-year-old. At this age, brushing skill is still developing and children often swallow some paste, so an adult should be nearby every time. A pea-sized amount is the usual starting point for young children: it is enough to cover the teeth and limits how much paste can be swallowed if the child does not spit perfectly.
The cola taste is there to make brushing more accepting for children; it does not mean the product is a food or a drink. In the product description, the key ingredients are calcium lactate and sodium monofluorophosphate; sugar is not listed among them. Still, if you need a full ingredient declaration, the packaging is the only source you should rely on.
Calcium lactate is a form of calcium that appears in oral hygiene products for helping to replenish the tooth surface.
