Fresh vegetables and fruit are the main source of vitamin C in everyday life. However, the actual ascorbic acid content of foods depends on the variety, storage conditions and cooking method: heat treatment and prolonged storage destroy a significant part of the vitamin.
L-ascorbic acid is an acid in the literal sense, and when taken on an empty stomach or when the lining of the gastrointestinal tract is particularly sensitive, it can cause discomfort: heartburn, a feeling of heaviness or irritation. This is not specific to this particular product but a general property of high doses of ascorbic acid.
Ascorbic acid breaks down when exposed to light, high temperatures and moisture. This means that where you keep it matters: a windowsill, a shelf above the cooker or a humid bathroom is not the best choice, even if the pack is closed.
