AltaiBio Liquorice and Badan Toothpaste is a cosmetic daily oral hygiene toothpaste from the AltaiBio natural dental care range, formulated with liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) extract and Siberian bergenia (badan, Bergenia crassifolia) leaf extract as the two principal botanical actives for comprehensive daily oral care. Liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) extract has one of the broadest flavonoid profiles among medicinal plants, containing glycyrrhizin, liquiritin, isoliquiritin and numerous other phenolic compounds; in oral care it contributes a characteristic naturally sweet flavour note (from glycyrrhizin) and a complex botanical profile. Siberian bergenia (Bergenia crassifolia), known in Russia as "badan" and in traditional Siberian herbalism as "Mongolian tea," provides a rich profile of polyphenols, tannins and hydroquinone derivatives from its thick, leathery leaves. The formula effectively removes plaque and food residue, freshens breath and provides a pleasant, distinctly non-minty brushing experience.
