A common starting ratio is 1 % which equals about 1 drop of tea tree oil per 1 ml of carrier oil, or 5 drops in 5 ml of carrier. For a 10 ml bottle, this means 10 drops total; you can adjust to 0.5 % (5 drops in 10 ml) if your skin is very sensitive. Apply the diluted mixture with a cotton pad or fingertips after cleansing, avoiding the eye area. Perform a patch test by applying a tiny amount to the inner forearm and waiting 24 hours before full use. Do not apply undiluted oil directly to the skin unless a qualified aromatherapist advises otherwise. Because the oil is highly concentrated, a few drops are sufficient; using more will not increase benefit and may irritate.
