The sweet taste of the bar is achieved with sweeteners, not sugar. This means that the glycaemic load of such a snack is lower than that of an ordinary biscuit or chocolate bar with a similar taste. For people who limit simple carbohydrates or keep an eye on the amount of sugar in their diet, this is a difference that matters in practice.
The high protein content (20 g) and the presence of fibre also help with appetite control: such a snack is more filling than foods with a similar calorie content that are based on fast-acting carbohydrates.
That said, there are several things to bear in mind. First, sweeteners are tolerated differently: the bar contains sorbitol, which can have a laxative effect if consumed in excess, and in some people sweeteners cause digestive discomfort, especially when several servings are eaten in a day. If you are trying products with sugar substitutes for the first time or are sensitive to them, start with half a bar. Second, fibre in large amounts can also cause unpleasant sensations in people with sensitive digestion.
The bar is not a dietary product in the medical sense and is not intended to treat or prevent any conditions. If you have a chronic metabolic condition, consult a specialist before adding it to your diet.
