Fitokosmetik Iranian Extra Henna is a pure, natural hair colouring powder made from the finely milled dried leaves of the henna plant (Lawsonia inermis), sourced from Iran. Henna has been used for hair colouring and conditioning for thousands of years across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, and remains one of the most widely used natural hair colorants in the world. The active colouring compound is lawsone (2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone), which forms a semi-permanent bond with the keratin proteins of the hair shaft, producing colour that develops over 1–3 hours of contact time and gradually fades over subsequent washes.

Depending on the natural base colour of the hair, Iranian henna produces shades ranging from golden yellow through copper and auburn to dark chestnut. Using henna in combination with indigo (basma) produces darker brown and black tones. On grey or white hair, henna produces vivid copper to red-orange tones. Alongside its colouring action, henna is also known to coat and condition the hair shaft, contributing to a fuller feel and natural shine. The 25 g sachet provides enough product for a single application on shoulder-length hair.

Customer Questions
Can I use this Iranian henna to lighten my dark hair or cover grey completely with a black color?
It is important to understand that this product contains pure Lawsonia inermis leaf powder, which works by staining the hair shaft rather than chemically altering it. Because henna binds to the keratin on the outer part of the hair, it cannot lift or lighten your natural pigment. If you have dark hair, you will not see a significant color change, though you may notice richer, warmer reflections in sunlight. For grey hair, the result is typically a vivid warm copper or orange tone, not a neutral or dark shade. If your goal is to cover greys with a black or dark brown color, this single-ingredient formula will not achieve that. To get darker shades like brown or black, henna is traditionally paired with other plant powders such as indigo or basma in a second step. Always perform a strand test on a small section of hair first, as the final result depends heavily on your starting shade and hair porosity.
How does henna affect hair texture and volume compared to regular dye?
Unlike oxidative dyes that penetrate the hair cuticle to change color internally, lawsone (the pigment in henna) attaches to the surface of the hair shaft. This coating effect creates a semi-permanent stain that can make hair feel smoother and look glossier. Many users notice that their hair appears to have more visual density, which is particularly beneficial for those with fine-looking lengths who want to add body without heavy products. The result is a polished look with enriched warmth. However, because it is a plant-based stain and not a conditioning treatment in the traditional sense, the primary benefit is aesthetic enhancement and tone deepening. It does not chemically repair damage but can improve the surface appearance of the hair. For best results, ensure your hair is clean and free of heavy silicones before application, as these can block the pigment from binding effectively to the keratin.
Is this product safe for chemically treated or sensitive scalps?
Although this formula is a single-ingredient herbal product without mixed chemicals, it is not automatically suitable for all hair types without caution. If you have previously used chemical dyes, bleached your hair, or have a sensitive scalp, the interaction between the lawsone pigment and existing chemical treatments can be unpredictable. The color result may vary significantly, and in some cases, it can lead to unexpected tones or uneven coverage. It is strongly recommended to introduce this product cautiously. Always follow the sensitivity test instructions provided with the package before full application. If you have a history of skin reactions or scalp conditions, consult a specialist before use. Additionally, because henna is semi-permanent and binds strongly to the hair, it can be difficult to remove or change later with conventional dyes, so planning your color journey carefully is advisable.

What Is Iranian Henna

Fitocosmetic Iranian Extra Henna 25 g is a plant-based hair colouring powder made from pure Lawsonia inermis leaf powder — a single-ingredient herbal formula, not a mixed hair mask or oxidative dye. That simplicity appeals to those who prefer straightforward botanical hair colour with a long history of use across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

How the Colouring Works

The colouring action comes from lawsone, the naturally occurring pigment in henna leaves. It attaches to keratin on the outer part of the hair shaft and creates a semi-permanent stain. Because it binds around the hair rather than lightening it, henna cannot make hair lighter — but it can deepen warmth, enrich the tone and make the surface look smoother and glossier. This coating effect is also why many people notice hair that feels a little thicker and looks more polished after use.

The result depends strongly on your starting shade:

  • Lighter hair — warm, bright copper tones
  • Medium or darker hair — copper, auburn or chestnut reflections rather than a full colour change
  • Grey hair — particularly vivid warm results

Henna can also be paired with indigo or basma when darker brown tones are desired.

Who It Suits

This herbal hair colour is often chosen by people who want to:

  • Refresh warmth and add richer tone without dramatic shade changes
  • Add visual density to fine-looking lengths
  • Move toward a more plant-focused beauty regimen

Before You Use

As with all henna products, the final colour can vary with hair porosity, previous colouring and natural base shade, so a strand test is a smart step before full application. If you have very light, chemically processed or sensitive scalp-prone hair, introduce it cautiously and follow the sensitivity test instructions before first use.
