The main difference is the absence of caffeine. Instant coffee contains caffeine, which stimulates the nervous system, so it is not recommended in large amounts for people with increased sensitivity to it or in the second half of the day. Chicory is milder in this respect: it can be included in the evening menu without the risk of disturbing sleep.
Instant chicory does not need boiling: simply pour hot water over the powder and stir. For 150 ml of water, use 1–2 teaspoons of powder.
Inulin is a soluble fibre that is fermented in the large intestine. For most people this happens without any unpleasant sensations, but with increased sensitivity of the intestine or unfamiliarity with foods high in dietary fibre, bloating or discomfort is possible, especially if a large portion is drunk at once. It is sensible to start with a small amount and assess the body's reaction.
