The main difference is the absence of caffeine. Instant coffee contains caffeine, which stimulates the nervous system, so it is not recommended in large amounts for people with increased sensitivity to it or in the second half of the day. Chicory is milder in this respect: it can be included in the evening menu without the risk of disturbing sleep.
The second significant difference is the composition. The base of this drink is chicory, rich in inulin, a soluble plant fibre that serves as a nutrient medium for beneficial gut bacteria. Instant coffee contains no inulin. That is why chicory is often chosen after a heavy lunch or dinner, as a lighter option for digestion among warm drinks.
The taste is different too: chicory gives a rich, slightly bitter profile, while the added lingonberry extract brings a fresh, slightly astringent note. This is not an imitation of coffee but an independent drink with its own character. For those used to the bitterness of coffee, the taste will seem familiar but milder.
The product contains no gluten and no GMOs, which matters for those who read the composition carefully. The soluble form is convenient: chicory dissolves quickly in hot water without boiling or sediment.
