Castor oil — extracted from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis L., family Euphorbiaceae) — is one of the most ancient and widely used cosmetic plant oils in the world, valued since antiquity in Egyptian, Indian and Mediterranean cosmetic traditions. Its unique chemical composition is dominated by ricinoleic acid (approximately 85–90% of total fatty acids), a rare hydroxy fatty acid with exceptional viscosity and outstanding skin-conditioning and moisturising properties. USE: Apply to the target area (skin, hair, lashes, brows, cuticles) in a small quantity. Massage gently. For hair: warm slightly and apply to hair ends or full length; leave for 30–60 minutes then wash off.
