What This Tea Is
YOGI TEA Kurkumi chai tee (Kurkuma Chai) is an organic herbal tea built around turmeric, a spice long used in Ayurvedic tradition for its warming, earthy character. People usually choose this kind of turmeric tea when they want a caffeine-free drink with a fuller, more spiced taste than ordinary herbal infusions. It works especially well as an evening cup, on colder days, or whenever you want something aromatic and gently warming.
Key Ingredients
The main ingredient is turmeric root, making up 55% of the blend. Turmeric is valued not only for its deep golden color, but also for naturally occurring compounds called curcuminoids. The full blend combines:
- Turmeric root (55%) — the base of the blend, providing its golden color and earthy warmth
- Black pepper — contains piperine, traditionally paired with turmeric in recipes to help make curcumin easier for the body to use
- Ginger and cinnamon — add a lively, warming edge
- Cardamom, cloves and mace — round out the taste with sweet-spicy notes
- Licorice and fennel — soften the profile so the tea feels rich rather than sharp
How to Enjoy It
The recipe reflects the style of an Ayurvedic spice infusion, presented in easy tea bags that fit into modern life. It can be enjoyed in more than one way:
- Simply brewed with hot water for a straightforward spiced cup
- Prepared as "golden milk" with regular milk or a plant-based drink — the spices become smoother and creamier, and the turmeric flavor feels more rounded
This organic spice tea suits people who enjoy naturally caffeine-free beverages, those looking to vary their tea selection beyond mint or chamomile, and anyone who likes chai-style flavors without black tea.
Things to Keep in Mind
- If you are sensitive to strong spices, start with a shorter infusion or add milk for a milder cup
- Be mindful if you are pregnant, using medication, or prefer to avoid licorice or pepper-containing teas

Customer Questions
The tea's label states it contains 55% turmeric root, which is a high proportion for a blend. This means turmeric is the primary flavor and color base, giving the tea its characteristic earthy, warming taste and vibrant golden color. The black pepper is included not just for spice, but because it contains piperine. This pairing of turmeric and black pepper is a traditional element in recipes, from classic curry blends to Ayurvedic formulations. It is understood that piperine may help make the curcuminoids—compounds naturally found in turmeric—more available to the body. In terms of taste, the black pepper adds a slight sharpness that complements the deeper turmeric notes, while the other spices like ginger and cinnamon build the chai-like profile. For a customer, this high turmeric content with supporting pepper signals a product focused on delivering a robust, full-bodied spice experience rather than a subtle hint.
Yes, the product information specifically mentions preparing it as 'golden milk' with milk or a plant-based drink, which is an excellent way to enjoy it. To do this, simply steep one tea bag in a cup of gently heated milk for 5-8 minutes, just as you would in hot water. The fat and proteins in the milk help to soften and round out the flavors of the turmeric and other spices like cinnamon and cardamom, making the overall taste creamier and less sharp. This method also slightly mutes the intensity of the black pepper compared to a water brew. It's a convenient option if you prefer a richer, more comforting drink, especially in the evening. If using plant-based milk, choose an unsweetened, unflavored variety like oat, soy, or almond for the best results, as the natural sweetness of the spices is often sufficient. You can strain the drink after steeping if any fine spice particles remain.
This tea has a high concentration of turmeric and a full chai spice profile, so adjusting the strength is straightforward. If you're sensitive to strong spices, start by shortening the infusion time. Steep for 2-3 minutes instead of the recommended 5-7 for a noticeably lighter flavor. You can also use slightly cooler water, just off the boil. For a milder cup, adding milk, a plant-based alternative, or even a splash of hot water after brewing will dilute the intensity effectively. Preparing it as golden milk, as described above, naturally creates a smoother, creamier result. Another approach is to use one tea bag for two cups, creating a lighter infusion. The licorice and fennel in the blend are included to soften the profile, but personal tolerance varies. Experimenting with these methods allows you to find the right balance between enjoying the aromatic warmth and avoiding an overpowering spice taste.
