Swanson Turmeric is a dietary supplement providing turmeric (Curcuma longa) root in capsule form. Turmeric is a perennial rhizomatous plant of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae), native to South and Southeast Asia, and one of the most widely used culinary spices in the world. The characteristic yellow-orange colour of turmeric is due to its curcuminoid pigments — primarily curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin — which are naturally occurring polyphenolic antioxidant compounds. In addition to curcuminoids, turmeric root contains essential oils (mainly turmerone, ar-turmerone and zingiberene), polysaccharides, resins and various minerals. The supplement provides a concentrated form of turmeric root for persons who wish to complement their dietary intake of this botanical. 100 capsules per pack.
