Kvadrat-S Succinic Acid Tablets are a food supplement providing succinic acid (butanedioic acid, amber acid) as a dietary supplement in tablet form. Succinic acid is a naturally occurring four-carbon dicarboxylic acid that is an essential intermediate of the Krebs citric acid cycle (the central metabolic pathway for cellular energy production in all aerobic organisms). In the human body, succinic acid is continuously produced and consumed as part of normal cellular aerobic metabolism. Succinic acid occurs naturally in low concentrations in many fermented foods, wines and some fruits and vegetables; high concentrations are found in Baltic amber, from which it was historically first isolated (hence "amber acid" — from the Latin "succinum," amber).
