Peppermint Tablets are a food supplement in tablet format, each providing 500 mg of peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita) in a sugar base, presented as 10 sublingual or buccal tablets for slow oral dissolution with a pure, intense menthol flavour. Peppermint essential oil is the steam-distilled volatile oil of Mentha × piperita L. (peppermint), a hybrid of watermint and spearmint; the oil is predominantly composed of menthol (35–55%), menthone (10–25%), menthyl acetate (5–10%), menthofuran, eucalyptol (cineole) and isomenthol. The intense, cooling-sweet flavour of menthol arises from its action on TRPM8 (menthol receptor/cold and menthol receptor-1) thermoreceptors in the mouth, creating a characteristically fresh, cool taste. The tablets provide a convenient, portable format for refreshing breath and are taken by placing under the tongue or in the cheek to allow slow dissolution. Sugar base (saccharum) provides the tablet matrix and a neutral sweet-neutral taste backdrop. N10 tablets per pack.
