Massage Ball 5cm
Description: The massage ball is an excellent tool for targeting various trigger points and relieving tension. It is particularly effective for massaging the plantar (the underside of the foot), glutes, back, and calves. It also works well for shoulder muscle massage by placing the ball between the wall and the shoulder muscle. The massage ball helps to relax and can alleviate tension, improving overall well-being.

What It Is and Who It Is For
Stolz GmbH Massage Ball 5 cm is a compact massage accessory for simple self-massage at home, at work, or after exercise. People usually choose this type of ball when they want to work on tight, overused areas with more precision than a foam roller can offer. Its small size helps you focus pressure on specific spots rather than broad muscle groups.
How It Works
When you lean on the ball or roll it under the body, the pressure helps release tense soft tissue and so-called trigger points — small hypersensitive areas in a muscle that can feel sore, stiff, or "knotted." Rolling also stimulates local circulation and gives the nervous system a mechanical signal that may help the muscle gradually let go of excess tension. This is why a massage ball is often used:
- After long hours of sitting
- After walking or training
- Whenever the body feels tight and restricted
Where and How to Use It
The 5 cm format is especially practical for targeted massage. Because the ball is small and firm, the intensity is easy to adjust by changing how much body weight you place on it.
- Sole of the foot: roll from heel to toes to work the plantar surface
- Shoulder and upper back: place between the ball and a wall for controlled pressure without needing assistance
- Glutes and calves: use on the floor to reach deeper spots that are hard to address with the hands alone
This kind of massage tool suits people who want a quick addition to stretching, mobility work, or post-workout recovery.
Important Notes
- Start gently, especially on very tight areas
- Avoid rolling directly over joints, bones, or irritated skin
- If pressure feels too sharp or pain persists, reduce intensity and seek advice from a qualified specialist

Customer Questions
You can effectively use the ball on your upper back and shoulders by placing it between your body and a wall. Stand with your back to the wall, position the ball on the tense area—for example, around your shoulder blade or the muscles along your spine—and gently lean back. Because the ball is small and firm, you can easily adjust the intensity by shifting your weight or bending your knees to apply more or less pressure. Slowly roll by moving your feet to guide the ball over the muscle, avoiding direct pressure on bones like your spine or shoulder joints. This controlled, targeted approach is often chosen for releasing tension after long periods of sitting or desk work, offering a more precise option than a foam roller for these hard-to-reach spots.
Always start gently, especially on areas that feel particularly tight or sensitive. Begin with light pressure by placing only a small amount of your body weight on the ball. You might want to first try it on the sole of your foot or a larger muscle group like your calf before moving to more delicate areas. The ball works by applying pressure to release tense soft tissue and trigger points, which can sometimes feel tender, but it should not cause sharp or shooting pain. Avoid rolling directly over joints, bones, or any area with irritated skin. If you feel a dull ache or a 'good pain' that releases after a few seconds, you're likely in the right spot. If the pressure feels too intense or the discomfort does not ease, immediately reduce the weight you're applying. Listen to your body; this tool is meant to aid in muscle release, not to force it. If pain persists, it's advisable to seek guidance from a qualified specialist to ensure you're using it correctly for your body.
You can use the massage ball at any time when you feel muscle tension or stiffness. Its compact size makes it convenient for quick sessions. During the day, it can be helpful for relieving tightness that builds up from prolonged sitting, such as in your upper back, shoulders, or glutes. Simply lean against it on a wall or chair for a few minutes. After walking, training, or physical activity, rolling it under your calves or feet can be part of a post-exercise recovery routine to help stimulate circulation and address specific tight spots. Using it in the evening may also help your muscles relax before sleep. There's no single correct time; integrate it into your routine based on when your body feels most restricted. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment, but a practical tool for managing everyday muscle discomfort.
