Black pepper has not been added for pungency. It contains piperine, a natural compound that helps the body absorb the curcuminoids from turmeric better. Without it, a significant part of the active substances of turmeric passes through the digestive tract practically unabsorbed, which is a long-known property of curcuminoids.

That is why the combination of turmeric and black pepper has become a standard in Ayurvedic and modern herbal formulas: one ingredient complements the other at the level of absorption, not only of taste. In SATTVA both components are present in liquid form, which makes it even easier to include them in the daily diet: it is enough to mix 30 ml of juice with 200 ml of water.
