Will this serum make my hair look greasy or weigh it down?

The serum uses a mix of lighter (burdock, rosemary, cedarwood) and richer (castor, avocado, shea butter) oils. Castor oil and shea butter are heavier by nature, but in a leave-in serum they are balanced by the more astringent oils so the finish is meant to be satin, not slick. On medium to thick hair, 4–6 drops distributed from scalp to ends usually absorbs within 10–15 minutes and leaves a soft, glossy feel. On fine or low-porosity hair, start with 2–3 drops applied only to the scalp — avoid the first 3–5 cm of the lengths unless they are visibly dry. If the roots look oily the next morning, reduce the amount or apply only on wash days.

Because it is leave-in, there is no surfactant to emulsify the oils; they sit on the hair surface and slowly penetrate. If you prefer a lighter finish, apply to damp hair (water helps spread the oil thinner) and blow-dry on low heat — the warmth encourages absorption. Avoid layering with other heavy oils or silicone serums on the same day, as that compounds the weight. A clarifying shampoo once every 2–3 weeks prevents buildup from the richer butters.
