The shampoo will remove most of it, so the risk of greasiness after washing is lower. If you want a leave-in effect, use a single drop on damp ends and stop there. Adding more later is easier than trying to remove excess oil.
Another option for fine hair is to mix a tiny drop into your shampoo rather than applying oil directly. This spreads the oil thinly and evenly, giving softness without a visible oily film. If your hair still feels heavy after trying these methods, reduce the amount or use the oil less often. Fine hair may only need this treatment once a week or even every other week.
