Why does my coconut oil get hard, and how do I use it when it's solid?

Pure coconut oil, including this product, naturally becomes semi-solid or solid at temperatures below about 24°C. This is a normal physical property of the oil and does not indicate that the product is damaged, spoiled, or less effective. Many customers prefer this solid state as it's less messy and easier to portion.

To use it, simply scoop out a small amount and warm it between your palms. The friction and body heat will melt it into a smooth, spreadable oil within seconds. This makes it easy to apply a thin, even layer to skin or hair. You can also place the sealed jar in a bowl of lukewarm (not hot) water for a few minutes to soften a larger quantity, such as for a hair mask. Avoid microwaving the jar or using direct high heat, as this can degrade the oil's beneficial properties. Once melted, you can apply it as a body massage oil after a shower or as a pre-wash treatment for dry hair ends.
