When should I put these compression knee-highs on, and how long are they typically worn?

Put the LAUMA compression knee-highs on in the morning, when the lower legs are usually least swollen. This makes them easier to pull on and helps the graduated compression sit correctly from the start of the day. The strongest pressure is at the ankle and it gradually decreases toward the knee, so the sock should be positioned smoothly and evenly.

They may be used in everyday situations where the legs tend to feel heavy or tired, such as long shifts on your feet, desk work with little movement, long flights or bus journeys, and warm weather when the lower legs may feel more swollen. They may also be used during pregnancy-related leg heaviness or after minor leg procedures if a doctor has recommended light compression.

For use during the day, keep an eye on comfort and skin marks. A light impression from the fabric can be normal with snug garments, but pain, numbness, tingling, coldness, colour changes or a top band that cuts in are signs to remove the sock and reassess the fit. Do not fold the top down to shorten it, because that can concentrate pressure in one area.

Compression hosiery is a medical aid and not a treatment for vein disease; if you have chronic circulation problems, diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, skin issues or open wounds on the legs, ask a doctor or pharmacist which compression level is suitable for you.
