What should I do if the soap leaves my skin feeling tight or dry?

Sulfur soap is designed for oily and problematic skin, but sulfur can still feel active on skin that is dry, reactive or easily dehydrated. The formula includes glycerin and olive fruit oil to reduce the tight, over-washed feeling, yet individual reactions differ.

If tightness appears, lower the frequency to every other day or twice a week and wash only the oily zones instead of the whole face or body. Keep the lather brief, rinse with lukewarm rather than hot water, and pat the skin dry instead of rubbing.

After washing, apply a simple moisturizer suited to your skin type. On the face, it helps to apply it while the skin is slightly damp. For the back or chest, a light body lotion can be used where needed.

It is also worth checking your other products. Alcohol-heavy toners, strong exfoliating acids, retinoids and other drying treatments can increase the tightness when used at the same time as sulfur soap. If the skin becomes red, burning or irritated, stop using the soap. The product's own advice is to stop and seek professional advice in that case. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a chronic skin condition or use medicated skincare, ask a specialist before first use.
