What nutrients does cedar nut oil contain, and why do people add it to their diet?

Cedar nut oil naturally contains a mix of unsaturated fatty acids, including omega-6 and omega-3, plus the less common gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). These fats are used by the body as building blocks and are part of normal cell membranes. The oil also contains vitamin E, a fat-soluble antioxidant nutrient, and phospholipids, which are involved in fat transport.

People often choose it when they want a broader range of fats than a single ordinary cooking oil provides. In Siberian food tradition, nutrient-dense ingredients were valued, especially in a harsh climate. Today it may be included in meals during periods of irregular eating, higher mental load, active training, or simply when someone wants more variety from edible oils.

A teaspoon or two spread over the day is enough to bring its taste and fatty-acid variety into a meal. It belongs in a balanced diet, not on the shelf as a concentrated supplement.
