What does the cooling-warming sensation feel like and why are menthol and aromatic oils in the formula?

The sensation comes from menthol. When you apply the balm, you will first notice a fresh, cooling touch on the skin. After a short moment this shifts into a feeling of looseness in the applied area. This is a surface sensory effect, not a sign that the balm is changing the underlying joint or muscle. Many people find this sensation pleasant when they want to massage a stiff or heavily loaded area.

The aromatic oils of eucalyptus, juniper and cypress work alongside the menthol. They add a herbal, resinous scent and help the balm glide smoothly under the hands, which is especially useful for a longer massage. The light cream texture absorbs more easily than a thick ointment, so it does not leave a heavy film on the skin.

If you have never used a menthol-containing balm before, the sensation can take a moment to get used to. Start with a small amount; if the cooling-warming feeling is too strong for you, use less next time or apply it only to a smaller area. Since the sensation is strongest during the first minutes, you may prefer to apply the balm just before your evening massage rather than right before going to bed.
