It is soft fixation, not rigid immobilisation: it does not replace a plaster cast or a rigid orthosis where complete immobility is needed (general information, not the manufacturer's words). The decision whether soft fixation is enough or a more rigid support is needed is made by a doctor on the basis of an examination and images.
