How much flaxseed oil should you add per day, and how can you fit it into your usual diet?

The label states: adults — 1 teaspoon 2 times a day with meals for 3–4 weeks; if necessary, the course is repeated 2–3 times a year.

In practice, the easiest way is to add the oil to foods that do not need heating:

  • to salad dressings, instead of or together with other vegetable oils;
  • to cooked porridge — buckwheat, oat or millet — after it has been taken off the heat;
  • to cottage cheese or yoghurt;
  • to boiled or roasted vegetables that have already cooled to warm.

If you are introducing flaxseed oil into your diet for the first time, start with a small amount — some people notice an unfamiliar taste or a digestive reaction when the proportion of fat in their diet increases sharply. Introducing it gradually helps you adapt more comfortably.

During pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have a chronic condition or if you take medicines, consult a specialist before regular use. The oil is not recommended in acute liver and pancreatic diseases or in case of intolerance.
