Can biotin be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Biotin is one of the water-soluble B vitamins and is generally considered well tolerated. Nevertheless, a 5000 µg supplement is well above the standard daily intake recommended for adults.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding the body's needs change, and any supplements in high doses should be agreed with a doctor or an obstetrician-gynaecologist. The specialist can assess how appropriate such a concentration of biotin is, taking into account the prenatal vitamin complexes already being taken — many of them already contain biotin.

Increasing vitamin doses on your own during this period is not recommended: it is important to take into account the total intake of nutrients from all sources, including food and other supplements.
