Who should avoid taking it or consult a doctor first?

DIOD SELEEN-AKTIIV is a supplement for adults and children over 14 with a relatively simple formula; however, the manufacturer recommends consulting a specialist before use, and in some situations it should not be taken at all.

  • Thyroid conditions. Selenium is involved in enzymatic processes related to thyroid hormone metabolism. If you already have a diagnosed thyroid disorder, taking extra selenium is best agreed with a specialist.
  • Taking several mineral complexes at the same time. Selenium is a trace element with a narrow range between adequate and excessive intake. If you are already taking a multimineral complex or other supplements containing selenium, it is important not to add up doses without keeping track.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding. The supplement is not taken during these periods — this is a contraindication stated by the manufacturer.
  • Children under 14. The manufacturer recommends the supplement for adults and children over 14 — 1 tablet a day; no dosage regimen is provided for younger children.
  • Sensitivity to ingredients. If you have a known intolerance to any of the ingredients, do not use it.

For a healthy adult who takes no other sources of selenium and has no chronic conditions, the supplement at the standard dose is usually well tolerated. Nevertheless, it does not replace a balanced diet and is not intended to treat or prevent any disease.
