Who should be cautious before starting to take bur marigold infusion? — Bur marigold, 50 g – Lekraset

Although bur marigold is one of the traditional herbs with a long history of use in folk herbal medicine, a number of situations call for consulting a doctor or pharmacist beforehand.

  • Allergy and hypersensitivity to herbs. Bur marigold belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae, also known as Compositae) — the same family as chamomile, calendula and wormwood. In case of hypersensitivity to bur marigold, the infusion is not used, and if allergic reactions appear, stop taking it and see a doctor; if you react to other plants of this family, be cautious.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding. The effect of biologically active plant substances on the unborn child and the breastfed baby has not been sufficiently studied, so during these periods it is best to agree any herbal supplements with an obstetrician-gynaecologist.
  • Regular use of medicines. Flavonoids and other herbal components can affect the absorption and metabolism of certain medicines. If you take medicines on a regular basis, check their compatibility with a doctor or pharmacist.
  • Chronic kidney or urinary tract diseases. Bur marigold infusion is traditionally used, among other things, to support fluid balance, which implies a certain load on the excretory system. In kidney disease, this needs to be discussed separately with a specialist.

Herbal infusions are given to children only on the recommendation of a paediatrician — the label gives a dosage for adults only.
