How do you prepare an infusion or decoction of elecampane root? — Elecampane roots, 50 g – Farm-Grupp

Elecampane root is a dense plant material with a high content of essential oils and inulin, so the preparation method affects which substances pass into the drink.

  • Preparation — pour a glass (200 ml) of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of the root and heat under a lid in a water bath for 15–30 minutes, stirring often.
  • Straining — the ready infusion is cooled, strained and topped up with boiled water to a volume of 200 ml.
  • Dosage — adults drink it warm, 1/2 glass 2 times a day 30 minutes before meals.

This amount of plant material and this frequency of intake are stated in the product instructions — and they are what you should stick to.

The ready infusion is stored in a cool place for no more than 2 days. It can be warmed slightly before drinking, but not brought to the boil again — this reduces the content of essential components.
