Using Sattva incense sticks requires no complicated accessories – all you need is a suitable holder that keeps the stick at a slight angle and catches the ash.
Step by step:
put the stick into the holder;
light the tip, wait until it starts to smoulder, and let it burn for a little while;
if the flame has not gone out by itself, gently blow it out – the stick should smoulder, not burn with an open flame;
let the scent gradually develop in the room.
After you blow out the flame, a smouldering ember remains on the tip, and this is where the scent comes from. If the stick goes out, simply light it again. The scent does not develop at once and not at full strength in the first minute – it needs time to spread around the room.
This format suits a small home ritual: light a stick before yoga practice, while reading, after cleaning or before sleep, when you want to slow down a little. Place the holder on a stable, non-combustible surface away from curtains and paper, and once the stick has burned down completely, make sure the ember has gone out.
