Burdock roots are a dense herbal material, but to make an infusion it is enough to pour boiling water over them and leave them to steep under a lid.
According to the instructions on the packaging: pour 1 glass (200 ml) of boiling water over 1/2 teaspoon of roots, cover with a lid and leave to infuse for 10–15 minutes.
Strain the infusion once it is ready. The taste is distinctive: slightly earthy, with a light bitterness — this is normal for this herb and is explained by the bitter substances in the root.
The infusion is drunk warm. It can be included in the diet as a herbal drink on its own or alternated with other herbal infusions. Adding honey or lemon is a matter of taste and does not affect the composition of the herb itself.
Any leftover infusion is kept in the fridge for no more than 24 hours. The dry, unopened herb should be kept in a dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odours.
