How should this iron be taken, and what should it not be combined with? — Iron supplement in liquid form 500 ml VITATEKA

Shake the bottle well before use. The daily dose on the label: adults and children aged 11 and over — 10 ml, children aged 7–10 — 5 ml, children aged 3–6 — 2.5 ml; it must not be exceeded, and the bottle should be kept out of the reach of children. The liquid form is usually taken diluted in a small amount of water or juice, or undiluted — check the method on the label.

Iron is better absorbed on an empty stomach or between meals, but in people with a sensitive stomach this may cause discomfort — in that case it is acceptable to take it with food, accepting a somewhat lower absorption.

A number of foods and substances reduce iron absorption: tea and coffee (tannins), dairy products (calcium), bran and wholegrain foods (phytates). If you want to get the most out of your iron, it is better to take it separately from these foods — about an hour apart.

Calcium and some antacids also compete with iron for absorption, so they should not be taken at the same time. Vitamin C, on the other hand, improves absorption — and it is already included in this product, which makes things easier.

After opening, keep the bottle in the fridge and use it within 3 months: liquid forms are more sensitive to storage conditions than tablets.
