Before applying the plaster, wash your foot and dry it thoroughly — damp skin holds the plaster less well, which may reduce its effectiveness. It is not necessary to soften the foot in warm water beforehand, but if you do, wait until the skin is completely dry.
The plaster should be applied so that the active part (impregnated with salicylic acid and sulfur) sits exactly on the hardened area and not on the surrounding healthy skin. This local action is the main advantage of the format: the active substances work where they are needed without affecting neighbouring areas.
According to the instructions, the plaster is left on for 24–48 hours; if the hardened area has not softened, the application can be repeated in the same way 3–4 times. After removal, the softened area is usually easier to smooth with a pumice stone or foot file — without rough mechanical force. Do not try to cut off or tear away the softened skin abruptly: this can injure the living layers.
If there is no noticeable result after several applications, or if irritation, redness or pain appears, stop using the plaster and consult a specialist.
