Medical Fort 100% Lavender Essential Oil is a concentrated aromatic oil, so it should never be applied directly to skin or scalp. For cosmetic blending, the usual approach is to mix a few drops into a carrier oil such as jojoba, sweet almond, argan, or a plain unscented lotion or hair oil. A common starting dilution is 1–2 drops of essential oil per tablespoon (about 15 ml) of carrier, which is roughly a 0.5–1% blend. If you have sensitive skin or are new to essential oils, start with the lower amount and increase only if your skin tolerates it well.
For a scalp or hair blend, add the diluted mixture to your fingertips and massage gently into the scalp, then work it through the lengths if your hair is dry. For a face or body oil, apply after cleansing and follow with moisturizer if needed. Lavender is often chosen for these blends because its scent is gentle and it suits many skin types, including skin that looks uneven, oily, or temporarily stressed. However, suitability is individual, so a patch test is recommended before wider use.
To patch test, apply a small amount of the diluted oil to the inside of your forearm and wait 24 hours. If redness, itching, or burning appears, do not use it on larger areas. Keep the oil away from the eye area and mucous membranes. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, prone to allergies, or have a chronic skin condition, consult a specialist before using the oil on your skin.
