White kaolin clay is a stable mineral powder with no water content, so microbial growth isn’t a concern while it stays dry. The main risk is moisture ingress, which can cause hardening or, in humid bathrooms, surface mold over very long periods.
Storage tips:
Store in the original jar with the lid screwed tight after each use.
Keep it out of the shower stall or steamy bathroom cabinet — a bedroom drawer or hallway cupboard is better.
Use a clean, dry spoon or scoop; never dip wet fingers into the jar.
Shelf life: Cosmetic-grade kaolin typically carries a 3–5 year period-after-opening (PAO) symbol. If the powder smells musty, shows dark specks, or forms hard clumps that don’t crumble easily between fingers, replace it. The mineral itself doesn’t “expire,” but contamination makes it unsuitable for skin use.
If you travel with it, transfer a small amount to a separate airtight container rather than packing the full jar.
