Vitamin E in oil-filled softgels is sensitive to heat, light, and oxygen. Store the original container at room temperature (below 25 °C), away from windows, stoves, or humid areas like bathrooms. Keep the lid tightly sealed after each use to limit air exposure. The vegetable oil carrier helps protect the acetate ester, but once the seal is broken, gradual oxidation begins. Most manufacturers design the shelf life for 2–3 years unopened; after opening, aim to finish the 20-capsule bottle within 6–12 months. If the softgels become sticky, discolored, or develop an off smell, discard them — these are signs the oil has oxidized. Do not refrigerate unless the label explicitly instructs it; cold can cause the oil to cloud or the gelatin shell to become brittle. A kitchen cupboard away from appliances is usually ideal. Always keep out of reach of children.
