How often should I use it to maintain the chestnut tone, and will it build up or dry out my hair? — Hair Color Shampoo "Chestnut", 40 ml – Victoria Beauty
Most people use a tinting shampoo like this once a week or every 2–3 washes to keep the chestnut tone fresh. Because the pigment is deposited on the surface, it fades gradually with each regular shampoo. If you wash daily, you'll notice the warmth fading faster — in that case, using the tinting shampoo every 2–3 washes helps maintain an even look. If you wash twice a week, once a week is usually enough.
Buildup is possible if you use it every single wash without a clarifying step. The pigment layer can make hair feel slightly coated or dull over time, especially on the ends. A gentle clarifying shampoo once every 2–3 weeks (or a chelating treatment if you have hard water) removes excess pigment and restores shine. Follow with a good conditioner or mask — the tinting shampoo cleanses and deposits color in one step, but it's not a deep conditioner.
If your hair feels dry, alternate with a hydrating shampoo and use a weekly mask. The product itself isn't inherently drying, but frequent washing of any kind can strip lipids. Listen to your hair: if the ends look frizzy or the color looks flat, skip a tinting wash and do a moisture treatment instead.
