A classic salt scrub is often little more than salt suspended in oil, and it can feel harsh and scratchy, especially at the start of the massage. This formula takes a different approach: the coarse Himalayan salt sits in a dense, creamy sorbet base that softens gradually on contact with damp skin. As the base melts, it distributes the crystals more evenly across the skin, so the exfoliation feels smoother and less concentrated in one spot. Vitamin E in the formula is there to soften the after-feel and reduce the tight, stripped sensation some salt scrubs leave behind — though you should still follow with a moisturizer, as with any exfoliator.
Two things worth knowing when using it:
The crystals dissolve as you work. Salt is water-soluble, so the abrasive effect naturally tapers off during the massage. If you rub one area for a long time, you are eventually massaging with the base alone — a minute or so per zone is plenty.
Keep water out of the 250 ml jar. Scoop the scrub out with dry hands or a small spatula rather than dipping wet fingers in under the shower. Water dripping into the jar dissolves the salt over time and thins the texture. Close the lid tightly and store it away from direct heat and steam where possible.
