Unlike petroleum-based occlusives, shea butter absorbs with a drier finish, so hands don't feel greasy or slippery after application — useful if you handle paper, tools, or a keyboard shortly after.

In practice, the cream is most effective when applied while the skin is still slightly damp, for example within three minutes of rinsing and patting dry. This traps the maximum amount of water in the stratum corneum. Reapplication after each wash, before stepping outside, and before bed maintains a more stable barrier throughout the day.
